We wanted to drop in with a quick update to thank you all for your continued feedback—and to let you know about two changes we’ve just rolled out based directly on your suggestions:
New Relationship Starting Point: Acquaintances
Previously, all HAi Companions began every interaction as “friends,” which some users noted felt a bit too familiar too soon. As of today, HAi Companions will start new conversations as acquaintances by default.
This allows the relationship to evolve more naturally based on your interactions—just like it would in real life. Whether things stay casual, become close friends, or move into something more romantic or deep, it’s now a more organic progression. 
Improved Message Rate Handling
We’ve also updated the message cooldown behavior. Previously, if you tried sending multiple messages too quickly, the second message would simply disappear due to rate limits—which we know was frustrating.
Now, when you try sending too soon:
- You’ll still receive the familiar alert to wait before sending.
- Your message will remain visible, so you don’t lose what you typed.
- After a brief moment, you’ll be able to hit “send” again without having to retype anything.
This should make chatting with your HAi feel much smoother and more natural.
